tintin++字符串操作请教

请教一下,如何在tintin中实现对字符串的截取功能?
尝试过用python解决,但是tintin++由luit配置了gbk的编码环境,用python截取英文字符串没有问题,但是截取中文字符串报错

UnicodeEncodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't encode characters in position 15-18: surrogates not allowed
